DOPING CONTROL

Doping control of athletes for the presence of substances that are prohibited due to their properties to enhance sports performance in an unethical way, violating fair play and the integrity of sports, is a way of promoting clean sports and competitive spirit. Doping controls can be conducted in-competition as well as out-of-competition. Certain athletes must provide their whereabouts in order to be available for out-of-competition doping controls.

The active part of the fight against doping is represented by the Doping Control Officer. DCO has a vital role during the doping control and athlete sample collection process. In order to achieve a good and consistent quality of work, systematic training of DCOs and chaperons is required, with accreditation, following the WADA International Standard for Testing and Investigations. DCOs are extremely important to protect the right of every athlete to compete in a doping-free sport.

Anti-doping rules are presented in the WADA Anti-Doping Code, and accepted as such in Montenegro. The WADA Code ensures that all athletes are observed through the same rules and standards during testing in order to harmonize the process between anti-doping organizations around the world.
