Strengthening Cooperation and Integrity in Sport
The Anti-Doping Commission of Montenegro had the honour of hosting Mr Michael Cepic, Director of NADA Austria and Chairman of CEADO, during an official visit as part of the CEADO mentoring programme, marking a continued effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation and build a strong national anti-doping system in Montenegro.
During his stay in Podgorica, Mr Cepic met with Minister of Sports Mr Dragoslav Šćekić, President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee Mr Dušan Simonović, and Director of the Anti-Doping Commission Ms Neda Ojdanić. Discussions focused on achievements to date and future priorities, with a strong emphasis on regional cooperation and capacity building.
The annual Assembly of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee was opened by President Dušan Simonović, who welcomed Mr Cepic and all participants. In his address, he highlighted the importance of inter-institutional cooperation for strengthening sporting culture and underlined the vital role of the Anti-Doping Commission in protecting the integrity of sport. He also emphasised the need for all stakeholders to fully recognise the importance of anti-doping efforts, as responsible athletes and sporting success contribute to the way Montenegro is represented on the international stage.
Minister Šćekić stated:
“The partnership with NADA Austria demonstrates how valuable knowledge-sharing is in the development of a high-quality national anti-doping programme. This cooperation plays a key role in our efforts to promote integrity and fair play in Montenegrin sport.”
Mr Michael Cepic emphasised:
“We are witnessing strong engagement at all levels – from the Ministry of Sports to the National Olympic Committee and the Anti-Doping Commission. Such collaboration is essential for building a sustainable and credible anti-doping structure.”
Director of the Anti-Doping Commission, Ms Neda Ojdanić, addressed the Assembly and highlighted the collective responsibility to protect clean sport:
“Clean sport is not just about testing – it’s a culture of honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our mission is to build trust and a lasting system through education, transparency, and cooperation with sports federations.”
At the same event, Mr Cepic updated the presidents of national sport federations on the latest global developments in the field of anti-doping and pointed out:
“Montenegro has a strong international sporting reputation, especially in team sports. Building a strong anti-doping system is essential to preserve that credibility.”
The visit concluded with a strategic meeting at the premises of the Anti-Doping Commission, where the next steps of the mentoring programme were agreed. The programme is being implemented under the Memorandum of Understanding between WADA and CEADO.
This visit reaffirms Montenegro’s commitment to building a credible, independent, and sustainable anti-doping system – through international cooperation, education, and institutional responsibility.
